Friday Nights at the de Young — Building Community Through Art
At the de Young Museum, I worked across departments to produce the weekly Friday Nights series : a free, public program that brought together live music, art demonstrations, film screenings, and academic symposia around each exhibition. Over four years, the program supported hundreds of local artists and welcomed thousands of community guests, turning the museum into a civic hub every Friday night.
Working cross-functionally with curators, educators, marketing, and operations, I helped shape the museum’s public voice and expand its reach transforming the way a major art institution engaged its city.

What He Did
Sourced and cultivated public and private partnerships to fund and support programming across the de Young and Legion of Honor
Developed hands-on youth curricula with the Director of School Programs
Initiated and managed the museum’s first social-media marketing efforts, growing Instagram and Facebook from 0 to 25 K followers and adding 100 K+ Twitter followers in six months
Coordinated logistics, artist relations, and community outreach across 18 major exhibitions
Outcome
Established a replicable community-engagement model still used by museum programs today
Strengthened partnerships between artists, educators, and civic organizations in San Francisco
Helped the museum reach new, more diverse audiences expanding access, visibility, and participation in the arts
